Ecclesiastical Tribunal

Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Tribunal

The Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Tribunal is the judicial body of the Holy Metropolis entrusted with the administration of ecclesiastical justice, in accordance with Sacred Tradition, the Holy Canons, the provisions of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and the norms of the Church.

Within its jurisdiction, it examines and resolves matters of a canonical, matrimonial, and ecclesiastical nature, always seeking truth, justice, mercy, metanoia, and the well-being of persons and of the Church.

All members of the Church—clergy, monastics, and laity—share in the same ecclesial communion and are called to live according to the discipline and norms of the Church. When applicable, all are subject to the authority and jurisdiction of the Tribunal, without distinction of rank or state of life. This is understood not as a burden, but as an expression of responsibility, order, communion, and love for the Church.

The Tribunal exercises its ministry with impartiality, respect, confidentiality, and a Christian and pastoral spirit, seeking not only the proper administration of justice, but also reconciliation, the restoration of ecclesial communion, and the spiritual well-being of the members of the Church.
